How Did Candy Land Come To Be?

On the sunny northern morning  of January 29th 2011, two students donned their protest gear (thick woolly jumpers and hastily applied eyeliner) and hopped on the coach from Liverpool to Manchester. On the coach they were trying to think up what to write on their sign, many possible slogans were thought up until they settled on "Educate yourself in Candy Land, it's free!"
During that protest the two students walked the good walk and chanted until their throats ran off with their elbows to go and live in Greece. Through out the protest one of the student began shouting "Come to Candy Land" to which the surrounding protesters cheered. After the speeches the students were walking with a large group of people when several police vans were rushing past and then two stopped The police in said vans jumped out and to the crowd's disgust pinned a man, who had been taking some photos of the passing vans, to the ground. The police did this with such force that his camera smashed upon the pavement. Then the police, at one point five of them, proceeded to restrain this man, for a lot longer than seemed necessary and one police man held down the man's face by using his shoe.
Everyone around including the two student were shaken and sickened by this violent nature of this man's arrest and the lack of evidence of any crime. One woman near the two students was almost in tears asking a police man who was holding back that part of the crowd why he had been arrested. The two students were upset and confused, the whole street was. The man's cries could be heard, his smashed camera lay on the despondently grey pavement. Everything seemed really bleak.
As the man dragged into the police van one of the students asked "Can you tell us why you've been arrested?" to which the man replied "I took a picture". The crowd were left looking at each other in confusion and shock, searching for some reason, none could be found. Then one of the students said
"That shit would not of gone down in Candy Land".
For a moment at least people smiled and light relief was provided. And that my friends, is the essence of candy Land, providing colour, joy and love in places or situations that would other wise be serious. Keep the message, up the fun.
